Home Visiting

Look at the reflection in the mirror and there you see your child’s first teacher. The most important person in their life is YOU! Home Visiting at Head Start for Kent County puts the focus on you and your family. When enrolled in the Home Visiting program, you will be paired with a highly trained home visitor who will give you individualized support specific to your child’s development and your family needs. A home visitor will help you every step of the way by pointing out your child’s successes, helping to set personalized goals, and supporting you with any challenges you face.

The Home Visiting program offers a variety of rich experiences for pregnant women and children birth through 3-years-old. Home visits are 90 minutes once a week and each week the Home Visitor and family plan learning activities utilizing everyday materials you have at home to promote development and exploration. You and your child will explore and taste new food from our monthly food experiences. Interactions with other children are possible through our socializations that occur twice a month. As a parent, you have opportunities to build relationships with other families at the socializations, family engagement events, and parent cafes. You are your child’s first teacher and participation in the Home Visiting program will enhance your child’s development.
